LASIK
LASIK has become one of the most common elective surgical procedures in the United States. LASIK is an out patient procedure usually lasting less than one hour.

Dr. Gipson has performed refractive surgery and LASIK for over ten years. LASIK is performed using an operating microscope and the excimer laser.

Eye drops are applied to numb the eyes. A thin corneal flap is made either by laser or keratome. This thin outer segment of the cornea is lifted and the laser is used to reshape the cornea. This corrects myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

Finally the flap is folded back in place , where it bonds quickly . Healing is rapid and most people return to work within two days.

You will be required to return to the office the day after surgery and as needed afterward to make sure your eyes are healing properly.

After the healing period, your vision should be vastly improved, so you can begin to enjoy life without having to rely on eyeglasses or contacts.

After LASIK, most individuals will need reading glasses in their forties.
