YAG Capsulotomy

YAG Capsulotomy is a surgical procedure that is performed to help relieve the cloudiness of the lens suffered by patients. Often the procedure needs to be performed after a patient has had cataract surgery and the cloudiness remains. It is a simple out-patient procedure that is completed within minutes to achieve success. A laser beam is directed into your capsule so that a light can reach the retina and vision can be restored.

Often the cloudiness after surgery can cause as much vision loss, or potentially more, than a cataract. The procedure is painless and can normally offer results within hours. Though, in some cases the vision will slowly be restored over the days following the procedure. The risks with YAG Capsulotomy are minimal and Dr. Gipson can review them with you if you are interested in the procedure.
